What Garage Door Installation Includes
A new door is only as good as the springs, track, and setup behind it.
Installing a garage door is more than hanging panels. The door has to fit the opening and the space inside the garage, the springs have to be sized to the door's actual weight, the tracks have to be plumb and level, and the opener has to be set up to match. Get any of those wrong and a brand-new door runs rough, wears out early, or doesn't close tight.
Every installation we do covers the full job: measuring, removing and hauling away the old door on replacements, mounting the track, assembling and hanging the door, winding and balancing the springs, fitting cables, rollers, and seals, connecting the opener, and testing the safety sensors.
Replacing an existing door? See garage door replacement. Replacing everything, including springs, track, and opener? See full system replacement.

The Measurements That Decide Which Door Fits
The opening size is only part of it. The space inside the garage matters just as much.
Width and height set the size of the door. Headroom, the space between the top of the opening and the ceiling, decides whether a standard track and spring setup fits or whether a low-headroom kit is needed. Side room on each side of the opening has to fit the vertical tracks and spring hardware. Backroom, the depth from the opening to the back wall, has to fit the horizontal tracks and the opener.
Older homes, garages with storage racks or a water heater near the ceiling, and openings that are slightly out of square all change what will fit. That is why we measure in person before giving a final quote.
You don't need to measure anything before you call. Your address and a phone number are enough to get started.
Five measurements, every job
How Installation Works
Three steps from the first call to a door that runs right.
- 1Measure, choose, and quote
- 2Remove the old door and install the new one
- 3Balance, test, and hand off
Measure, choose, and quote. We measure the opening and the garage, walk you through construction, insulation, style, color, and windows, and check whether your current opener can stay. You get a clear quote before anything is ordered.
Install. On installation day the old door comes down and is hauled away. The tracks go up plumb and level, the door is assembled and hung, and the springs are wound and balanced to the new door's weight. Cables, rollers, and seals are fitted and adjusted.
Balance, test, and hand off. We check the door's balance by hand, connect and adjust the opener, set travel limits and force, test the safety sensors, and run repeated full cycles. Before we leave, we show you how the manual release works.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most standard residential installations are completed in a single visit once the door is on hand. Custom doors take longer overall because of ordering and production time, and we give you the timeline when you order.
Yes. On replacement jobs, removal and disposal of the existing door and hardware is part of the installation. The site is clear when we leave.
Often it will, but it depends on the opener's age, condition, and capacity, and on the weight of the new door. We check compatibility before the install. If the opener should be replaced, we tell you before ordering. See opener installation.
It depends on the scope of the work and your jurisdiction. Our guide to garage door permits and codes in Boise and Ada County explains what to check.
For attached garages, or garages used as a workshop or gym, usually yes. Insulated doors hold temperature better through Boise winters and summers and tend to be quieter and stiffer. For detached garages, a single-layer steel door is often enough. See sectional overhead doors for the construction options.
Your address and a phone number are all we need to start. We respond to website leads in under 15 minutes and measure the opening on site before the final quote. Payment is accepted by cash, check, credit card, ACH/bank transfer, or Zelle.
